Gloria J. "Mimi" Winer

Gloria "Mimi" Winer has been an Original Cloth Doll Artist since 1983 and has been teaching classes in cloth dollmaking for over 15 years.
Gloria is a member of the Society of Craft Designers, The Original Doll Artists Council of America (ODACA), The National Cloth Dollmakers Association, the Global Doll Society, and is Past President of the National Doll and Toy Collector's Club of New York City (UFDC). Her business is a member of the Hobby Industries of Association. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Academy of American Doll Artists (AADA).

    Various Dollmaking Classes

    Description of Classes:
    Two and Three day Classes at all major venues
    Travels to Doll Clubs all over the U.S. and Canada
    Teaches own Patterns
    Three to Five day class on modeling a form in clay and draping it to get a pattern which is then stitched and stuffed, corrected, etc. Popular class with artists who make polymer and porcelain dolls as well as those looking to create their own cloth dolls.

    Locations:
    United States and Canada

    Date:
    At major dollmaking conventions.
    Local sponsors usually host classes just before or just after major dollmaking conventions.

    Time:
    1 to 5 days depending on the class
    9:00am - 5:00pm or later.
    Either local sponsor activities or classes will be in the evening as well.

    Cost:
    Set by class sponsor.
    Average $75.00 per day for an 8-12 hour class.
    Students must register and pay for a complete class

      Additional information:

    • Doll Medium: Cloth, with useful information for Polymer Clay and Porcelain
    • Supplies Required: Kits at an additional cost.
      Kits for cloth dolls include: fabric, stuffing, doll sculpting needles, Dream Seamer.
      Kit contents for polymer clay or other classes may differ.
    • Pre-Class Work Required? For cloth doll classes, pattern and fabric will be sent about 4 weeks before class. Skin should be sewn before coming to class.
    • Is Previous Experience Required? Good sewing skills. Mimi teaches skills suitable for beginner to advanced dollmakers to use in all their dolls.
    • Recommended for Ages: Adults with good sewing skills
    • Class Size: 10 minimum, 15 maximum
      Polymer clay classes may be larger
    • Is Lunch Provided? Depends on local sponsor
    • Contact for registration: Registration is handled by the Dollmaking convention or local sponsor.
